Gurp

The Gurp is a very varied canyon. There are natural slides and beautiful abseils. There are some slightly more difficult abseils, but after a little practice it is doable. There is usually little water flowing in the first part of the canyon, which is ideal for us to practice. After a tributary joins the canyon, things start to get really beautiful. Here we find the slightly more technical abseils and we are surrounded by beautiful layered rock formations, also called "Plegamiento".
If the water levels are good, this tour is definitely recommended and it is not without reason that the Gurp is one of the 50 most beautiful canyons in the Pyrenees.

Description of the activity
We do not visit this canyon very often in the summer as there is usually little or no water flowing here. If this is the case, then it really is a beautiful canyon. We start this activity at 09:30 at the material tent to separate and fit the materials. If everyone has the right materials, we leave for the canyon parking lot in the village of "Gurp" (about a 30-minute drive). Here we park the cars and partially change our clothes. We then walk another 20 minutes to the entrance to the canyon where we continue to change clothes and get ready. After the guide has given another instruction, we will start the tour. The first part of the canyon will be dry, but that is useful for practice. Then a small tributary is added and then the highest abseil of 30 meters immediately follows. There is also room here to take a short lunch break. The 2nd part of the canyon is a lot narrower and, if there is water, a few small jumps are also possible here. Once you reach the end, it is about a 20-30 minute walk uphill to the parking lot where the cars are parked. This canyon is very "rain sensitive" as we call it. If no rain has fallen, it will have no water and after a heavy rain shower it can quickly accumulate quite a lot of water and even become dangerous. These canyons are therefore extremely dependent on the weather conditions.
